Based on a number of typefaces created between 1784–1811 that had similar characteristics–hairline strokes, high contrast.

Based on a number of typefaces created between 1784–1811 that had similar characteristics–hairline strokes, high contrast.  The typeface we know as Didot was originally cut by  Firmin Didot (1764–1836) in Paris.

Often compared to Bodoni, named after Giambattista Bodoni.
